Show Review: Dead End - Paranormal Park
November 20, 2024
I need to start with saying that I am deeply disappointed because the canceled the last season of this show, and we will never know how it ends. It is based on books, though, so maybe I will take the time to read them. Maybe I won't. It is all based on a graphic novel series by Hamish Steele called DeadEndia. I will have it linked in my ShopMy.
As you have probably grown to expect at this point, Eli and I started another show that we thought was going to be cutesy and fun to have in the background and it ends up being engaging and enjoyable to watch. We really enjoyed this show and are saddened by the fact that we may never know what happens to the gang, but I suggest this show anyway.
We follow the lives of Norma and Barney as they just got their first jobs at a theme park, that just so happens to be haunted. It is themed, similar to Dollywood, around a famous southern belle, that stole the hearts of the nation. Norma has been a fan of this southern belle, Pauline, since she was a small child, but Barney is just happy to have a job to get out of the house. These two teenagers arrive for their interview, and get met by a demon named Courtney, played by Emily Osmond, who is planning on serving them to the ghost of the house. Courtneys plans are foiled, and the three of them, and Barneys pup, Pugsley, solve mysteries and save the mutli-verse over and over.
We touch on love, friendship, fear and finding ones self in this show. Barney has to overcome unkind things said to him by his grandmother, Norma has to give up the idea that she had in her head about her idol, Courtney has to grapple with her identity, being the only demon of her kind, and Pugsley had to learn what it means to be a best friend and protector.
