Book Review: A Womens Guide To The Wild by Ruby McConnell

October 30, 2023

There is not much to say about this book, other than the fact that I learned so much. I am very new to learning about spending time outdoors, I have been camping maybe three times in my life, so I am coming to this book with a desperate need to learn from it. This being said, there were still some things that felt a little like common sense to me.

I would caution those looking to gift this book, though, because it would feel a little on the offensive side to those who have already spent extensive amounts of time outside. I do suggest this book to all women looking to spend a little more time outside as it helped me even just in my confidence. I have felt a lot of imposter syndrome while walking through REI and other outdoorsy stores, even just simply because I didn’t know what I didn’t know. This doesn’t 100% fix this, but it does make me feel like I can walk into an outdoors store and not feel like I shouldn’t be there.
