Show Review: School Spirits

July 21, 2024

Okay, I just finished the show just a couple minutes before writing this review and I am reeling. If you have read this blog before, you know that I am a huge fan of having the rug pulled out from under my feet and hate when I can predict an ending before it happens, and boy did this show deliver.

Just when you thought you knew what was happening, you were proved wrong. This show has so many twists and turns I never really knew what was going on.

I will warn you, though, this is just a first season and it ends on a cliffhanger.

So we follow a high schooler named Maddie who wakes up…dead. She has no memory of dying or the day leading up to her death, but she wakes up with the rest of the students that have died at, or near, the school. Which is an alarmingly large number of people. She starts going to a support group with the other students trying to cope with their death, and trying to move on, but don’t know how. There is a teacher, who also died at the school, who is trying to help the students to move on, but is relatively unsuccessful. Maddie is able to haunt the school and learn about her classmates and friends in a way she was unable to before because she’s invisible. She, unfortunately, learns that her boyfriend was cheating on her with her ex-best friend and she isn’t sure who she can trust other than her best friend, Simon.

Overall I really recommend this.
