Planners: My 2024 Choice
December 14, 2023
If you know me you know I am a big fan of the physical planner. I love making lists and checking things off and planning out my days, weeks and months. Every year I am faced with the challenge of finding a planer for the next year that feels like it will be the best fit for the year that I want to have.
I want to preface all of this by saying that everyones planner needs are different. My planner needs are different from year to year, so I am not saying anything bad about any of these great planners, I am just saying that they no longer filled my desires of what I wanted in a planner.
This year I feel like I looked even harder because I didn’t love the one that I chose for 2023. It filled its purpose, but I was wanting a little more out of my planner than just a calendar.
For a few years, I chose The Golden Coil as my planner of choice because it gave me so many options for customization, but they became more and more expensive and less and less what I felt like I needed from a planner. I was also looking for something a little more compact, and The Golden Coil is known for a lot of beautiful tings, but being compact is very much not one of them.
After that, I used this Wit & Delight planner and I loved it, but wanted to try something new - that is another thing about my planner journey, I feel like I need to try a new planner company every year, or at least a new planner layout. Which, if I am being honest, doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me. I don’t understand why I need to keep trying new things. I think I might believe that there will a better way for me to stay organized that I don’t know about and that way will completely alter my productivity levels. Which is very ADHD of me.
This past year I used this horizontal Appointed Planner and I loved it for the first couple of months because it was really all that I wanted and needed, but as the year went on, I realized that I needed a lot more from my planner. My job was ending and a new one was beginning and what I needed my planner for drastically changed. I needed more day to day space and I wanted more reflection pages to help me remember the year. I love the idea of my planner also doubling as a bit of a journal or a diary.
This year, after much research and consideration to brands like Papier, Mossery and Ana tomy I finally decided to go with this Planner from Hemlock & Oak and I truly could not be more excited. I am so excited for all of the self discovery pages and the intention setting for the year. More really awesome things about this company are that this is a woman owned company, locally printed near the company headquarters with goals toward a sustainable closed loop system. I have included some images of the inside pages and I highly recommend checking this company out. I am so looking forward to a year of intentionality.
