One Week More

May 20, 2023

A week from today I will be waking up and getting ready for the day that will change my whole life. I will be brushing my teeth for the last time with my maiden name. I will be washing off the evening before and dressing in my monogramed button down and black bike shorts and Birkenstocks. I will be making sure my nails are properly adhered down after getting ready. I will be drying my hair on a low and cool setting so that it stays fluffy and smooth all day. I will be praying that it is a cooler day for the end of May.

A week from today I will be gathering everything that I need for the ceremony and reception spaces. I will be making sure none of my flowers died overnight. I will be loading all my things into my car and hoping that nothing will spill on the way over. I will be checking my list over and over to make sure I do not forget anything. I will be making sure I have back up readings for my sister and my fiance’s brother. I will be doing my best not to feel overwhelmed.

A week from today I will be arriving at the venue and meeting all of the vendors and making sure everything is in place. I will be decorating the reception space and making sure that each table has plenty of candles and blooms.

A week from today I will be giddy with excitement as I get ready with my sisters. I will have a friend of mine from high school doing my make up and I will be putting my hair into an easy low bun. I will be slipping my feet into my “something blue” and making sure someone hooks the back of my dress so that it doesn’t fall open.

A week from today I get married to the love of my life.
