Movie Review: Leave The World behind

January 4, 2024

I am going to be honest, this movie freaked me out. It doesn’t take a lot to freak me out, but this one really sent me reeling. I am all for thrillers and thought provoking movies, but this was a little too realistic for my liking.

This being said, there were definitely parts of it that didn’t make a whole lot of sense to me, like the animals telling them that there was something wrong, but other than that, it was a little too freaky. The fact that my brother, who is in the military and a bit of a dooms day prep-er, suggested it for family movie night, really made it feel all the more overwhelmingly freaky. I already felt like everything in the movie was very likely, but the fact that he was the one to suggest it really make it feel more realistic.

This Christmas he gave me a foraging book, and while I did ask for one, it further solidified that I need to be studying that book.

Anyway, this film was interesting and thought provoking, but maybe not in the way that I wanted it to be. It has Kevin Bacon, Ethan Hawke ( which is looking more and more like Kevin Bacon as they both age ), and Julia Roberts. They all do a lovely job in their roles and I enjoyed seeing them all in roles that grow with them, but I don’t know that I will be watching this again any time soon.
