How Do You Know?

February 22, 2024

What makes a job worth your time? Is it the growth that you are going to gain from it? Is it the money that you will earn working there? Is it the friends you make along the way? What makes it worth staying in a job that you are not fond of? How do you know if you are in a job that is just not great at the moment, or is it that it is just really not a great fit for you?

How do you know?

In an interview recently I was told “I am sure you are aware, there is a lot on your resume” and she was not saying it in a “wow, you are so accomplished” kind of way. She was trying to make me feel bad about having working a lot of odd jobs in the past seven years since graduating college. Why am I supposed to feel bad about that? I am trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. So much of our time is spent at our jobs, why would I want to work someplace that I don’t want to be or don’t feel valued at?

I find that frustrating. I do not feel bad about working a lot of jobs. I am disappointed that I still don’t know what I want, but that does n0t affect her as someone hiring me, it affects me, the person working to find her “dream job”

Anyway, thank you for reading my little rant.
