Show Review: Nobody Wants This
November 29, 2024
I keep eating my words about not liking romance as a genre. Granted, that rule has generally been for books, (I watched the notebook over and over and over for years) but I feel like I just continue to eat those words lately. I loved this show, and the fact that it is based on a real life love story and one of them is the creator of the show kills me. It makes me emotional just writing about it. Maybe it’s because I got the love story I had dreamed about for years - which I feel like I need to write down at some point - I feel like I want to hear about all the wonderful, crazy, magical love stories that people have and live through and the every odd the defy.
We follow the story of a young woman named Joanna, who has had a long line of bad relationships, that she and her sister have created a very successful podcast talking about. Until one day, she meets this fabulous guy, Noah, who just so happens to be a rabbi. It feels like a doomed relationship from the start, but they can’t seem to stay away from each other.
Kristen Bell plays our girl, Joanna, while our main man, Noah is played by none other than Dave Rygalski himself: Adam Brody. Their chemistry is off the charts and their banter is so fun to listen to. (Honestly, I wish I was half as witty) I feel in love with the characters instantly. The show is full of love and friendship and sisterhood and the messiness of family. I cannot recommend it enough.
