Gift Guides for the Hard to Please

December 11, 2024

Are you struggling to find a gift for someone this year and don’t know what to do? I am here for you. I have a couple people in my family that I am just never sure what to get them, but these are sure fire ways to get them something that they won’t return right away.

  • something consumable - get them something that they can use and use up, and that way if the mention that they loved it, you can get them another the following year. some examples of this are:

    • candies or chocolates ( please check allergies beforehand )

    • candles

    • fancy lotions or oils ( honestly anything you can find at bath and body works or L'Occitane )

  • self care items - this kind of goes along with the first idea, but we all need a little self care in our lives. some examples are:

    • sleep mask, especially if it is weighted or lavender scented

    • pedicure kit for doing at home pedicures, or in-between touch ups

    • heated blanket

    • massage gift card ( if you are feeling fancy )

    • cozy socks

    • mug and tea combo

    • slippers

  • a personalized boat tote from L.L Bean - honestly, I want twelve of these, and who doesn’t need another thing to carry other things in?

  • holiday specific items - this can make it easy because it is not something that you expect them to have out all year. here are some examples:

    • ornements

    • poinsettia ( as long as they do not have cats, they are highly poisonous )

    • cookie tins ( please fill them with cookies before you give them )

    • nutcrackers

  • gift card - this is great if you honestly don’t have a clue what to do, but just make sure it is to somewhere they actually go, and enough to actually buy something they want. if you cannot afford to get them a fancy bag or new wallet, maybe don’t go with a Chanel gift card, but maybe something like Starbucks, or barnes and noble, or the local versions of those things.

  • your favorites from the year - this gives you something to talk about as well as something to bond over. if you found an incredible new tea, or a favorite new author, or the softest sweater you have ever felt; share that with them! and then tell them all about why you loved it.

I hope this gave you a little launching board this holiday season! Happy gifting!
