Book Review: The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides

October 10, 2019

I wasn’t sure I was going to write a review about this one. That’s not because I didn’t like it. No, quiet the opposite actually, I am a little worried I am going to give something away.

This book had me hooked from the moment I opened the cover. The storyline was woven together so beautifully and the mystery was kept alive until they were ready to let it go. As Alex Michaelides debut novel, I cannot wait to see what he does next. Alex has a way of story telling that makes the reader feel like they are there. It is easy to get lost in the pages and hours can fly by without even realizing it. The story is zippy and interesting while still being thought provoking and seat gripping.

The story is set in an interesting point of view that takes a moment to understand. The narrator doesn’t introduce themselves right away, and I think that in and of itself was a brilliant move on Alex’s part. The character evolves and you learn more about them and how they are involved in this story along the way; they have woven their story into the story they are telling.

I cannot say enough good things about this book.

Really, there is so much that I could give away, but I just really think this is one that you need to pick up for yourself. This psychological thriller is filled with suspense and intrigue.
