Book Review: The Prince and the Dressmaker by Jen Wang

March 15, 2024

What a delightful and beautiful graphic novel. I simply could not read this fast enough, it was so lovely and so sweet.

The book follows a young seamstress named Frances and her journey to finding her style, herself and a wonderful friendship with a prince. She is discovered when there is a ball being throw in the princes honor, in order to find him a bride, and there is a client that comes to the shop that Frances works at. She has ruined the dress that she as meant to wear to the ball and tells Frances that she can go dressed as “the devils wench” for all she cares, and Frances delivers. She creates something so jaw dropping and head turning that she gets a mysterious client asking to employ her to be their personal dress designer. We get to see Frances flourish and blossom into the designer she was always meant to be alongside Lady Crystallia and their friendship deepen.

I don’t want to give too much away, but this beautiful story is about acceptance, love and self discovery and I highly suggest it!
